Michael Shumway

Prior to joining RPA, Michael had a successful career both in government and the private sector.
A sixth-generation Arizona native, Michael graduated summa cum laude with his undergraduate
degree from the University of Arizona. After two years teaching high school in his hometown of
Winslow, Arizona, he attended The James E. Rogers College of Law where he also graduated
summa cum laude—finishing sixth in his class of nearly 150. After clerking for Chief Justice
Robert Brutinel on the Arizona Supreme Court, Michael practiced both as a private defense
attorney and as a prosecutor.
Michael brings more than a decade of legal experience to the team at RPA in both trial and
appellate litigation. When not working, you’ll find him coaching one of his kids’ sports teams or
rooting for the Arizona Wildcats.
